Our NEW websiteHopefully you’ve already had a chance to check out the new Elevator Up web site we launched in early March. While our old site was functional, the new version gives you a better glimpse into our personality and what we can offer you. When all is said and done, we’re still focused on offering “Smart. Simple. Solutions.” that help solve real business problems. A few new features. We’ve revamped our available hosting options to offer your more choices and a bit more clarity on what choice makes the most sense for your business. Whether you want a full hands-on approach to hosting or just the comfort of knowing your stuff is safe, you can now easily research hosting options and quickly sign up with a credit card. But it’s not just about hosting. You can also check out what we’ve been spending our time on in the featured work section of our web site. Did you notice the easy sign-up for our Random Updates newsletter? Okay, that may not matter much to you since you’re already reading our newsletter, but think about your less fortunate friends. Share the link and get them connected with Elevator Up. Hang out at the Garage
Elevator Up's Garage has really taken off lately and we have seen many new faces. Whether you need a place to work for the day or want a little more long-term commitment, Elevator Up is opening its space to enable collaboration between small companies. It’s called coworking. Elevator Up's Garage is the first coworking operation in West Michigan offering nomadic internet/technology entrepreneurs a place to squat. We wanted to say thanks again to Andy Dragt for stopping by to check out Elevator Up's Garage and the benefits of coworking. We appreciate him making us look good! Kabuki muralStop by the office and check out our amazing new art piece created by The Ambrose Collective.
You may remember an article we wrote from a previous newsletter posing the question, "Why Waste Time on Kabuki?" But what does that mean? The term "kabuki" comes from a show called 'Mad Men', which is a TV series about a fictional ad agency in the 1960's. In one episode, the agency presents a new campaign to a client who completely misses the true brilliance of what was being presented and tries to offer up rather useless comments and suggestions; as if he had a better understanding of what his audience really wanted. We were so struck by the clip because the agency simply stood up and said, "That's ok - I don't think there's much else to do here other than to call it a day. [...] You're a nonbeliever. Why should we waste time on Kabuki?" Without repeating the entire article, it's about discovering what you consider to be kabuki -- the thing keeping you from being happy with what you are working on, clients not getting their full potential and more crap being pushed out into the world where nobody is living the lives they dreamt about when they were kids -- and dumping it from your life. There's much more to the mural than just Kabuki though so come check it out and interpret it for yourself. Collections 2.0After being fed up with people who just wouldn’t pay, we had an idea to set-up a site intended to publicly shame people into paying...or at least warn others about working with them. You can add your problem child by emailing justice@public-collections.com or twitter their info and add the #owesme hash tag. Your message will display on public-collections.com. The launch of Public Collections was the result of our new FIVE 48 initiative. Elevator Up is all about big ideas and we're constantly generating new ones. Too often, however, innovative ideas are left on the table because there just isn't the time to get them up and running while the excitement is still fresh. The solution: FIVE 48. Your resources: five people. Your time: 48 hours. Your maximum budget: $5,480 ($1,000 per person plus incidentals). It's about taking those great ideas you have for products, services, schemes, whatever and spending 48 hours to develop them. See where you end up. The initial excitement of a great idea dies down quickly. You must take advantage of those first 48 hours. Stay tuned to see what new ideas Elevator Up develops from FIVE 48. And if you put it to work for yourself, we'd love to hear what innovative idea made it off your drafting board.
